Doug Casey:

Explorer, Adventurer, Polo Player, Individualist and Discoverer of 100%, 200%, even 10,000% profits in natural resources.

Nearly everything about Doug Casey is unconventional. To unwind, most summers, he spends a week riding freight trains... the world's richest hobo. He says it's a great way to meet people you would never talk to otherwise. Most of the time, though, he's traipsing the world by jet, helicopter and whatever else it takes to get to the back country mine sites as well as the halls of power. He owns homes in Aspen, Hong Kong, and Marbella and enjoys a good game of polo when he's at home in Argentina.

Doug Casey has been quoted in The Washington Post, Forbes, Time, Barron's and a score of other financial publications. Well-spoken, smart, and always provocative he's appeared on NBC News specials, Donahue, Larry King, David Letterman, Charlie Rose and CNN.

He's a disciple of Ayn Rand, a die-hard individualist who believes in free-market capitalism and making your own way. And a true contrarian who racks up big profits because he's willing to buy low when nobody else likes a stock and he sees value, he's in. When the crowd comes and the price is outrageous, he's out taking his happy readers with him.

He can tell you where to get the best Swiss annuity, the only mutual funds worth touching, which index to short, but his real love is natural resources. Especially the small mining companies that make up the "junior golds." His track record in this area is phenomenal. As it should be, Casey's something of a phenomenon himself.

He says he's never happier than tromping through the boonies going over the ground with a geologist or watching a new site develop. He might be at a high-altitude site in the Andes one week and the Malaysian jungle the next. He's willing to go places that aren't even safe to get a first-hand look at a promising discovery.

There are few investment sectors as potentially rewarding on an up cycle as gold mining, or as filled with scam artists, dopes, and black holes for your money. There's real gold in gold, that's for sure. But you have to know what you are looking at. Fortunately, Doug Casey can read a geologist's report. He can separate hype from real promise. He understands the technology, the capital requirements and the risk involved. And he knows most of the major players to boot. Last year when the Bre-X scam was so smooth it fooled even professional miners and geologists, Doug Casey knew enough about the business to realize that there was too much money in the company for its size no matter how rich their find was. He told his readers to get out, and they did. With a 10,060% profit. Months later, everyone else was taking an immediate 90% loss!
