Banro Resources - Banro is currently selling for about the cash it has in the bank. Can is sell for less than cash? Possibly, because other companies are. I own a fair bit at higher levels, and have no plans to sell.

The Junior Gold Review - Semi annual review of all junior golds in the portfolio: producing, developmental, exploration and silver companies.

Notes - Tax loss selling, gold and silver coins, money managers, and more...

Make Terror Your Friend: Part II - The volatility of the market doesn't faze people much anymore; it's been a feature for the last several years that's mainly presented buying opportunities, so people think it's a good thing. I hope I'm dead wrong, the bull market resumes, and it turns out recent events were just one more buying opportunity.

The IMF: An Engine of Destruction and Corruption - I've commented on the IMF here many times over the years, as it has stumbled from one disaster to another, always covering its tracks with a smokescreen of smooth PR. It's especially fun to ridicule its employees like its approximately one thousand economists, who've been completely blindsided by absolutely every financial and economic disaster that's ever come down the pike.

The Future of Banking - I'm now investing in a company, Customer One Direct, that promises to do for the banking industry what Charles Schwab did for the brokerage industry. And few businesses are dumber, more poorly managed, or more in need of shock therapy than the banks.

The Markets/Open Positions - Semi annual market check up and portfolio update.

Notes - The elections, Republican revolutionaries and more...

XIX, No. 10 - October, 1998

Investing in Uranium - It's a certainty that global baseline demand for electricity will continue to grow rapidly. What is open to question is whether the amount of nuclear power generated over the medium term will more or less stay the same world-wide (the consensus opinion) or start increasing, which I believe. History, the USEC, companies poised to take off with uranium, and more...

XIX, No. 9 - September, 1998

The Junior Gold Review - Semi annual review of all junior golds in the portfolio: producing, developmental, exploration and silver companies.

Western Pinnacle - is a pure play on natural resources in Russia - but with Western management. As such it is, to my knowledge, unique.

Pan American - is a longtime recommendation in these pages. The company was founded with the intention of becoming the market's most direct and leveraged play on silver.

Notes - Saving Private Ryan, Another White House reunion, food storage, America or Rome?, the stop loss strategy, New Zealand, and more...
